We've tried to think of everthing you might need to know but if you can't find the answer to your question below then please get in touch.

It all depends on the application and the usage. Our tape can remain on for a number of days since it is water resistant, however we recommend that you keep it on for a maximum of 5 days. The length of time will vary depending on the area of application. For example, applying to the feet may only last 1-2 days (more wear and tear)whilst the postural area could last 5+ days.

The 2 most commonreasons that applications come off prematurely:

The person who has applied the tape accidentally handled the adhesive when applying the product. Or the tape was applied without properly preparing the skin (clean and dry thoroughly).

The tape was not “set”via rubbing the tape post-application to activate the adhesive, and/or the user did not wait approximately onehour after application before engaging in physical activity or getting the tape wet.

Although kinesiology taping has been used by millions of people worldwide, its popularity has been gained through its clinical effectiveness at reducing pain and changing athletic function rather than hard scientific evidence. Several theories exist as to how kinesiology tape works however none have proved conclusive. To put it simply, we know it works but were still 100% sure how, and we encourage you to create you own script on how it works to discuss with your patient. Here’s our thoughts on some starting points for patient discussion:

  • Tape affects the skin receptors
  • This can help tissues underneath function better
  • This reduces the pressure on pain receptors
  • This helps reduce your pain and improve your function
  • It also assists the healing process

Rigid tapes, such as Zinc Oxide and EAB are designed to 'lock-down' and immobilise joints, or provide compression. They help to prevent painful movements by restricting the amount that an area can move, or stabilise areas that are put under heavy stress during sport (such as ankles and knees).

Kinesiology tapes are designed to facilitate movement - kinesiology literally means movement - so are designed to stretch and move with the body, providing dynamic support and enabling better neural feedback.

This will depend on the nature of the injury you are treating. As a medical professional you will be expected to be the point of knowledge if you are offering taping treatment, which is why we offer 3 different CPD courses around the country to help train you on the most suitable taping methods for various injuries.

Zinc White are made from a premium-grade cotton, making the tensile strength incredibly high, with a strong Zinc Oxide adhesive.

SPORTTAPE Zinc Oxide Tan is made from Deluxe Rayon cotton which provides unrivalled tensile strength and is backed with our Extra Sticky adhesive. It is stronger and more durable that it's white counterpart making it our most premium Zinc Oxide tape.

EAB stands for Elastic Adhesive Bandage, it is a stretchy wrap that contains adhesive to stick the tape to the skin or itself. Cohesive is perfect for anyone with sensitive skin as it contains no adhesion but still sticks to itself.

Underrwrap does exactly what you expect. It's designed to go under other tapes to protect the skin and prevent irritation, as well as enabling the tape above to come off easier.

The only tape, which is technically reusable, is our Cohesive wrap, this is because it does not contain any adhesive.

Although not recommended, Cohesive wrap can be washed and used again. Washing will reduce it's self adhesion though, so a few applications will probably be enough.

If your client has a known allergy to other glues, it’s always worth trying a small tester strip before applying directly to the skin. All SPORTTAPE products are made using hypoallergenic and latex free materials to help reduce the chance of any allergic reactions.

Absolutely! We’ve been running CPD taping courses since 2012 with universally positive feedback. Check out our CPD Workshops page to find a course near you!

Some tapes are easier to remove than others. Our Extra Sticky Kinesiology Tape can be a literal pain sometimes, even after multiple days of wear. We'd recommend following these steps:

1. Stretch the skin underneath the tape

2. Peel the tape gently in the direction of hairs

3. Use TAPEOFF if necessary

Shaving certainly isn't necessary, although there is no doubt that our tape will have a more profound effect my maximising the surface area of skin that it touches, but we'll leave it for you to decide how much to trim. If applying Rigid tapes such as Zinc Oxide and EAB, you can also use our Underwrap to protect skin and hair from taping glues.

If you're struggling with adhesion, try our TAPE ON spray.
